Readers will need no persuading as to the literary talent of Jay Griffiths. Over her dazzling and immensely varied writing career, she has written books of great beauty, but enormous importance too. ‘How Animals Heal Us’ is vintage Jay, a breathtaking tour of world cultures and history, a passionate love letter to nature and the animal kingdom, and an urgent rallying cry for a better planet.
She has a clear, eloquent and utterly unique voice, and it will be such a pleasure to hear it in Machynlleth.

In this original, revelatory and exuberant book

Jay Griffiths explores how animals can have a role in every level of healing, from the individual to the collective, guiding us in how we might create societies that are healthier, fairer and kinder. Wolves may be teachers of ethics; monkeys and dogs can object to unfairness and bees take collective decisions. Animals are irresistible medicine for a healthy culture, animating the arts with spectacular vitality and verve, as poetry knows.
